Relentless Love is Heartwarming enriching and emotional. You won't put it down, once you pick it up. This story captures a woman's love for her MAN and her children which is deeper than life itself. After she loved them beyond ones imagination, it was their turn to love her beyond imagination. This explosive love took place in College Station, a small southern town in the great state of Arkansas. College Station is a census-designated place. (CDP) in Pulaski County, Arkansas that is near the city of Littlerock. Census designated places are locally recognized communities with population clusters which lack legal status such as incorporation within the states where they are located. My mother, Doris Ball, was the third child out of ten, born in 1933 in College Station Arkansas. Doris Ball was a light complexioned female. During that time, if you were a light skinned African American female, you could just about call the shorts. To put it mildly, she was very good looking and could have almost any man she wanted, some would say. Mother Dear, my mom's mom, worked a lot. She delegated various chores to Catherine, Grant, Doris, Vera, Fredrick and Max, the older ones. She instructed the older children to take care of the little ones. The little ones included two sets of twins. Mother Dear's first set of twins were a boy and a girl, Jo Ann and Jay. Later she had another set of twins, a boy and a girl again, named Larry and Lynette. Altogether, there were 10 children in the Ball family. Fredrick, who had a sickness called rheumatic fever needed to be taken to the hospital almost once a week. The hospital was not in town. One of the older kids had to put Fredrick on piggyback and walk about 2 miles on the outskirts of town. After such a long walk, it was necessary to take a cab 20 miles west of College Station to get Fredrick to the hospital to see his doctor. Doris accomplished this task even if it meant she had to miss school. Fredrick was her little brother her foremost priority and nothing was going to interfere with her obligation to get Fredrick to the doctor. Doris performed this task consistently without hesitation. They didn't expect Fredrick to live to be 20 years old, but he tripled 20 and then some. When you are from big family, a lot is expected from you. You grow up real fast, especially in the South. Mother Dear, my mom's mom, was a hard working woman. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. In small towns people would gossip, but no one had anything bad to say about Mother Dear. Big families were common during this era. World War II was over, but around 1950 the Korean War was alive and well. Some soldiers were coming home to a new life, new beginnings and new possibilities. Many young males needed to join the military in desperation to provide for their families. My grandmother, Mother Dear had two sets of twins as I stated earlier. To add to that, she was a twin as well. Her father, Noah Neyland had 12 kids. Noah Neyland was my great grandfather who arrived in Arkansas between 1917 and 1920, before the Great Depression. Mother Dear reflected the commitment to family values as taught to her by Noah and Nicey Neyland, her parents. Two of Mother Dear's daughters were born looking exactly like her. They were Doris, my mother, and Vera her sister. Doris and Vera were like best friends and looked so much alike people thought they were twins. They looked like Mother Dear (Annie), their Mother. The family resemblance of these three women was just mind boggling. My Mother, Doris, talked about College Station, her home town quite often. She want to Dunbar High School in the late 1940's. Doris had a host of friends, not only female, but male as well. She was found at clubs and dances frequently. She loved to both dance and attend church. In the south, church was mandatory. If you did not go to church, you were not human.
